The Jury Process -
A Blinded, Fair Evaluation to Identify the Winners

All ADI competitions hosted on www.adiawards.org are conducted on the internationally acclaimed and certified technology platform, AwardsForce. This platform adheres to the highest standards of competition integrity and enables the organising teams to conduct evaluations fairly through a blinded, multi-tier jury process. The jury process for Harit Setu will follow the steps outlined below:

Step 1: Valid Entries

All entries received within the stipulated deadlines and in accordance with submission guidelines are approved to enter the evaluation process. Entries that are incomplete or violate submission rules (such as revealing the identity of the entrant) are automatically disqualified at this stage.

Step 2: Screening Process

The ADI organising team has enlisted the voluntary support of 12 professional designers from its active community. These individuals are divided into four screening panels, each consisting of three members. Each valid entry is randomly assigned to one of the panels and is evaluated on four predefined parameters, with scores given on a scale of 1 to 4. The individual scores from the three panel members are averaged to determine a mean scorefor each entry. Based on these scores, approximately the top 50 entries will advance to the next stage.

Step 3: Plagiarism Check

Given the nature of identity design, all shortlisted entries undergo a basic plagiarism check to ensure originality. This includes reverse image searches and other tools to identify any resemblance to existing work. Whether intentional or unintentional, any significant similarity to existing designs will be grounds for disqualification at this stage.

Step 4: Final Jury

The final jury comprises eminent designers from the ADI community, representatives from the collaborating architecture/design firm, and officials from PCMC. This final evaluation takes place in two stages:
  1. Independent Scoring: Each juror independently scores the entries carried forward from Step 3 using the same four evaluation parameters. Mean scores are then calculated for each entry.
  2. Deliberation Round: The top 15 entries, based on the independent scoring, are brought into a collective deliberation session. In this round, jury members engage in detailed discussions to decide the winners.

Testimonials Slider

Harit Setu: This unique partnership between PCMC, citizens & ADI design professionals should set a benchmark for upcoming community focused initiatives.

As a jury chair for the Harit Setu logo design competition, I was truly impressed by the overwhelming response from designers, students, and city enthusiasts alike. While some submissions showcased exceptional creativity and execution, others, despite being visually appealing may have missed a powerful concept that was both easy to execute and comprehend. I am delighted to say that our diverse, balanced, and experienced jury worked in harmony to select the best logo, and we are happy with the outcome.

It may take some refinements and detailing before we see the impact, which I have no doubt will add a positive value to the quality of life being envisioned.

It’s great to see a participatory approach being taken for the identity development of a government facility. Open competitions can bring in fresh ideas and engage a wider community. That said, to ensure that the final outcome is both imaginative and professionally executed, it might help to build in a layer of mentorship. Pairing the selected entry with an experienced design studio/ individual can help shape the idea into something that works across different contexts and platforms.
